In a friendlier key and with no thumb position, this arrangement of Dance of the Pernambuco is great for intermediate cello quartets of all ages. Shifting is required for all, the highest note is the harmonic A. Score and 4 parts. Pernambuco, otherwise known as Brazilwood, is the type of wood that is the very best for making high quality string instrument bows. Because of this and many other uses of wood and land in the forests and rainforests of Brazil, it has become an endangered species and its use is now severely restricted. As a string player and user of a Pernambuco wood bow, I want to show my thankfulness for the gift of this small piece of wood, as well as raise awareness for the immediate need for reforestation and preservation of all forests around the world. The string quartet - reformatted for cello quartet! This is a good challenge for intermediate and advanced players, and can be played with a mixed level ensemble if the tempo is kept on the slow side. The faster it is played, the more challenging it becomes.

From composer David Floer comes a cello octet, or rather a piece for seven "normal" cellos and one cello with an extra low F string. Alternatively there is a double bass part to perform the piece with seven cellos and one double bass. "Lament" uses harmonic techniques and multiple clefs and is suitable for advanced groups. Included are PDFs of the score and all parts, including the alternative double bass part, and a sample recording.
